Smoking is like a leech that holds on to you no matter how hard you try to get it off. The worst part is we pick up this leech and put it on us to suck our blood out. And by the time we realize it is sucking our blood, it has firmed its grip on our skin, and it’s become a part of us.

Luckily this leech can be removed from your body. It is no doubt very difficult to stop smoking, but it is achievable. Around 40 million Americans have successfully quit smoking, and so can you. People use different techniques to stop smoking, and many of the techniques work for different people.

For me, I tried a lot different aids and techniques, but the only thing that really helped me was hypnosis.

Whenever I tried to quit smoking before trying hypnosis, it was the inevitable social situations that lead me back to smoking. I tried hard to fight with my temptations but in the end, I did smoke. Even though, I felt really bad about smoking again, I couldn’t stop it.

I started feeling like a failure after failing so many times in my attempt to stop smoking. I must have tried at least fifty times, but all of them in vain.

It was programmed in my mind that I need to smoke, no matter what. The addiction was not physical; it was all in my mind. I knew it and fought hard with it, but like Nicolas Cage said in “Lord of War”, when you try to fight your own chemistry, you are going to lose.

But, luckily I found something that could change the chemistry of my mind.

Hypnosis uses a very different approach to help people stop smoking than any of the other methods and aids that are available today. Hypnosis affects the sub conscious mind and makes it believe that you are a non-smoker.

It removes all the craving and the temptations from the core of your mind. The sub conscious mind is something that is still a mystery to science. No one has any idea about how it works and what goes inside the mind. But through repeated trial and error over centuries of trying, hypnotists have found a way to influence the sub conscious mind and to bring some changes in your thinking.

Governments have tried many ways to reduce the number of smokers in society. In Australia the latest attempt is to introduce plain packaging on cigarettes. The packs will still retain the grisly images of cancer effects, but the manufacturers will not be able to identify themselves.

This is supposed to stop people smoking. It will inconvenience the shopkeepers who will have to re-organise their systems to find the right product for buyers, but the notion that this will make people stop is very questionable.

If you are reading this I assume your are a smoker. I bet the colour or design of the packet won’t make any difference to you. It’s the nicotine that drives the smoker.

Its the smokers belief that they will feel less stressed that drives them. It’s the belief that smoking will solve boredom, or make coffee or food or driving somehow better that drives people to smoke.

And it’s the fear of being without a cigarette that pushes people to light up.

I believe that until a person decides to quit then they could wrap smokes in cement bags and people would still buy them.

Sometimes I think that governments act for the sake of acting, they want to be seen to be doing something. Maybe they should consult some hard core smokers and ask them what they think, then perhaps some workable solutions may be found.

The point is don’t rely on the outside world to solve your smoking problem. The government can try as hard as they want but nothing will make you quit until you make the decision. It’s always been the direct decision of every smoker to quit. Sure tax increases or fear campaigns can give you a push, the end decision is always yours.

Then it’s just a matter of how you choose to quit. Advanced hypnosis and NLP is very successful and can give you the best chance of saying goodbye to the smokes forever. A plain pack with a scary photo will never break the bond you have with lighting up and driving or coffee or anything else.
